‘Stories Within Stories By Gavin Hardcastle’ Landscape Photography Book

It’s said that the sequel must be better than the original, so for my second hardback book ‘Stories Within Stories By Gavin Hardcastle‘, I went to extreme lengths to bring you a landscape photography book that’s even better than my first.

I lovingly crafted a collection of awe-inspiring images from my extensive career and wrote fascinating true stories to accompany each image. Some of them you might even believe.

About The Book

After receiving lots of great feedback for my first book, ‘Chasing Awe with Gavin Hardcastle,’ I knew I wanted to write another. Since then, I’ve travelled far and wide to bring you even more spectacular images and those all-important stories of what goes on behind the scenes.

A stack of copies waiting to be shipped. Front cover.

Whether it’s a hilarious caper, a disastrous misadventure or an inspiring moment of insight, ‘Stories Within Stories By Gavin Hardcastle‘ gives you an unrestrained and brutally honest glimpse into the life of a professional landscape photographer.

There are days when I have the best job on earth and there are days when I seriously question my life choices. With this book, you’ll join me on my journey through the agony and the ecstasy as we hike through frozen granite mountains, paddle over searing swamps, quest through haunted forests, wildlife encounters and, of course, all of my favourite beaches, waterfalls and lakes.

More Than Just Stories and Photographs

With ‘Stories Within Stories By Gavin Hardcastle‘, I felt it was important to include some technical insights into how the images were created. With images that involved some level of technical mastery, I included a short explanation as to how I achieved the final result so that you can learn while being entertained.

Shipping Included In The Price

I figured that the best way to make people feel good about the outrageous cost of shipping from Canada was to simply absorb the cost of postage and packaging in the price of the book. The price you see includes worldwide shipping to anywhere regardless of where you live. If you live outside of Canada, your country may impose duties when purchasing products from other countries. This is the responsibility of the buyer, not the exporter. Luckily these duties (if any) should be negligible.

Shipping Status

Here are the estimated shipping times from the date your book gets sent:

  • Canada – 3 to 10 days
  • USA – 3 to 10 Days
  • Rest of The World – 4 to 19 weeks (Sooner in most cases)

Why USD and not CAD?

Historically, most of my clients are in the US and around the world. Very few come from Canada, so I’ve set USD as the web sites base currency to accommodate the majority. In my 20+ years of doing e-commerce, USD seems to be the more globally ‘recognized’ currency for e-commerce. People from different countries are more used to seeing prices in USD than CAD so that’s what I went with. One day I’ll figure out how to add multi-currency to the site.

What Customers Are Saying About This Book

Rick Williams (https://www.rickwilliamsphotography.net)

Gavin, I just received your book Stories Within Stories yesterday. I am only on page 25 and I just had to pause and write to you to express my gratitude to you for producing such a fine book. I love it! The images are spectacular and the accompanying write ups really add to the viewing experience. You’re a funny guy, and a guy like me, a New Jersey native who speaks three languages – sarcasm, ridicule, and English – can really appreciate your sense of humor, which is overshadowed only by your incredible photographic talent.

Just got the book and wow, it’s even better than the first one (of course, online I’ll just say it’s good for propping up a wobbly table). But seriously, the book, your channel, all of it – provides a lot of people like me motivation to get out with the camera, along with the patience it takes to keep hunting that perfect light.

Dear Mr Super Gavin and The Wonderful Ms Amanda.

It’s what we wanted….what we really really wanted…… so just a few words to confirm that we really really got your pictorial masterpiece ‘Stories Within Stories’ !!

Thank you so much! Like an injection of the very best medicine your book will now provide joy and wonderous reading. Frankly with my health issues (which are slowly resolving) this additional reading will help matters no end. I suppose too much of me to now demand that you ask Nikon what they might be doing with Pixel Shift for the Z9?  Forgive me……I was only asking ……

I have just purchased the Freewell Pro card reader that reads CFexpress type A and type B cards as well as micro SD and standard SD cards. It also has storage facilities for same said cards. Expensive ..ish but wondering if you may have looked at this?

I’m off now to read another chapter of a rather good masterpiece of a book………

Thanks again to both of you for cheering us up! 😀 Come to sunny Slough one day ……we know you want to…………😭🧐

I’ve just finished Stories within Stories and from the very first page, Gavin’s unique voice shines through. His ability to weave stories around his breathtaking images makes this book stand out from the crowd. Each photograph is not just a visual treat but a narrative in itself, drawing you into the scene and making you feel as if you’re standing right there with him.
The tips are incredibly useful, whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out. He breaks down complex concepts into easy-to-understand advice, making the art of photography accessible to everyone. The practical tips are seamlessly integrated into the narratives, so you’re learning without even realizing it—a testament to Hardcastle’s skill as both a teacher and a writer.

And then there’s the humor. Gavin’s wit is sharp, making you laugh out loud while you learn. His humorous anecdotes and lighthearted commentary keep the book engaging from cover to cover. It’s rare to find a photography book that’s as entertaining as it is informative, but Stories within Stories strikes that perfect balance.
